Catholic Worker at Canticle Farm

This is the archived copy of the 2014 website now updated at https://canticlefarmoakland.org/ As of 2017, the Catholic Worker House is now known simply as 'Sister Water.' This project continues along lines strikingly similar to the early vision described here. A great success in the making.

Needs

If we are to find real meaning, feel real joy, it will come on the wings of
a fully engaged life, a life in the service of more than our self.
– Jan Phillips

Financial needs, and a list of our non-financial needs:

Canticle Farm’s operating budget is primarily supported by individuals who live within the community itself; and by gifts of money, volunteer hours, and resources from our extensive circle of friends. All our workers are volunteers, committed to serving the needs of others. The Catholic Worker House receives no funding from institutional sources, and we take no payment for our services.

deepestwisdomConstruction efforts at the House are now allowing us to make more bedrooms available to residents. We anticipate our numbers will almost triple in the next few months. This growth happens precisely at the time our income is shrinking markedly: some of the ‘key earners’ within our community are moving on. We are, suddenly, urgently needing to raise funding to support feeding and caring for many more people.

Simply put, our work and example is dependent on the assistance and generosity of souls such as you. Are you willing to directly support a powerful example of a community studying and cultivating innovative and restorative structures and practices promoting generosity and forgiveness in the human community, and peace in ourselves, our neighborhood, and the world?

By making a tax deductible donation, you’ll be directly helping individuals in need of assistance right here in our community. You don’t need a Paypal account to make donations through Paypal. Donations can be made with credit cards and debit cards. Food and medicine are two of our highest priorities. Thank you for your consideration continued support.

Donate conventional currency online through PayPal, here. Please stipulate ‘Catholic Worker’ under the “special instructions” options.
